ShipMonk, one of the fastest growing South Florida startup companies, has signed a 170,447-square-foot, long-term lease agreement to expand and relocate its Deerfield Beach headquarters to Bridge Point Riverbend. The new 221,542-square-foot, state-of-the-art industrial building, located at the intersection of I-95 and Broward Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale completed construction in September. ShipMonk, who has carved out a niche in the e-commerce sector, will occupy the new space at the start of next year.

Tony Hoover of CBRE represented the tenant in the transaction, while Colliers International’s Steven Wasserman represented the landlord, Bridge Point Riverbend.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to have met ShipMonk’s unique industrial space requirements and welcome them to Bridge Point Riverbend,” said Kevin Carroll, Partner, Southeast Region of Bridge Development Partners. “We’re confident this world-class facility will serve to meet their current and future needs.”

“Bridge Point Riverbend’s ideal location provides a strategic opportunity to serve the booming Florida industrial market and was one of the key factors that enabled us to lease the property so quickly,” said Shlomo Khoudari, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Elion Partners.

ShipMonk, a logistics company for e-commerce businesses, was originally launched out of Florida Atlantic University’s Tech Runway in 2014 by 26-year-old entrepreneur Jan Bednar. Today, the company has grown to more than 200 employees across Florida, and Los Angeles, California. ShipMonk self-financed its initial growth to become #29 on the 2018 INC 5000. In October, the company secured $10 million in financing that will fuel its next phase of growth. Growth plans include doubling its workforce and establishing an office in New York, and opening warehouses in Asia and New Jersey or Pennsylvania.

“ShipMonk has been so successful, so quickly that it has outgrown its existing South Florida office and distribution spaces for the fourth time in four years,” said Tony Hoover of CBRE. “We were able to find them the perfect, high-quality solution in a strategically located building that offers ample room to grow in the future. With all of their existing Florida locations now consolidated under one roof, they are well positioned to realize increased operational efficiencies as well.”

Located at 201 NW 22nd Avenue, Bridge Point Riverbend features 32’ clear ceiling heights, rear-dock loading, ESFR sprinkler systems, and a 1.4/1,000 parking ratio. The strategically located facility offers easy access to South Florida’s major transportation arteries with immediate proximity to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades, and just a short 30-minute drive to Miami.
