Paul Hanley, partner at BRIDGE, adds that there may be an increase in demand for cold storage facilities from food suppliers adapting to the increase in online grocery shopping. Last August, data from Waitrose found 77% of people did at least some of their grocery shopping online, up from 61% in 2019.
Hanley also thinks take-up from other subsectors, such as data centres and perhaps electric car manufacturers, will increase. “People are being forced to embrace the fact that all new cars need to be electric within 10 years’ time,” he says.
